Syagrus
romanzoffiana
The Queen is truly the king in Southern California.
Extensive plantings are everywhere, by far
the most popular palm. In fact the demand
is so strong that thousands are imported from
Florida and distributed through large retailers.
The Syagrus romanzoffiana (also called Cocos
plumosa) is perfect for our weather extremes.
It takes the cold to 22 degrees, loves full
sun, survives drought and can withstand dry
hot winds. They look best when planted in
well draining soil and fed regularly. Fronds
yellow easily when planted in poor soil and
nutrients are not available. |
